Living Intentionally

July 8, 2024

In the hustle of day-to-day living, I find myself piling on new tasks, balancing health, jobs, school, volunteering, family, and more. The list goes on. I continued a life of passively living, merely going through the motions of a typical day. This summer, I took the time to understand what it takes to be alone.

Understanding that you can be alone without feeling lonely is an uphill battle I have been fighting for years. When life got busy, my first instinct was to push aside every form of self-care I had in place, which meant that when life came crashing down, I had no idea how to deal with it. Wanting to take pride in caring for my body meant that I had to stop being so passive in my self-care. When struggles arose, I desired to feel nothing and do nothing.

Choosing to live intentionally doesn’t mean grand gestures or involving more time, energy, or effort. It means that when I am utilizing time, I am being as aware as I can be with how that time is spent. Rather than spending time passively, it means actively thinking about how I am impacting others and how I can improve each day.

Being in nature means feeling the cool breeze blow my hair back, my skin soaking up the heat, journaling my gratitude, and fully embracing the ups and downs to life. At WhistleStop Acres, we encourage you to take in the environment and enjoy the impact of nature and animals. We truly believe that the time spent here is unlike anything else you can experience. It is an honor to be part of a team that wants you to do your best and feel your best. Surrounding myself with individuals who constantly push me to work harder, inspire others, and take care of myself is so rewarding.

Even when struggles arise, the importance of community and purpose reminds me to live intentionally. As my mom loves to say, “You have a choice to be angry, happy, or sad. You get to pick what you want in life.” By preventing passive living, I can take a step back, correct negative energy, and be mindful of how I interact with people.

You make an impact. You are exactly where you should be. Take this as a sign to reach out. We invite you to spend time with us and make an intentional decision to get you to where you want to be. You have control; be proud of who you are and who you want to be.

I invite you to live intentionally.
