Chickens

  • Dixie is our sweetest of all the chickens. She was bullied terribly so she was removed from the flocks and bonded very heavily with the humans and the goats. She is happy as can be, overcame heatstroke this summer, and is determined to live her best chick life!

  • Dolly Dolly is our chicken with the wildest feathered look, which made ups think of Dolly and all her wigs. Dolly is one of our smaller girls, but she doesn’t mind. She just happily clucks around and enjoys her life!

  • Dottie is twin to Dixie and sometimes it could be hard to tell them apart. But, their personalities are different. Dottie is more vocal and tends to wait her turn for things. She is lower on the pecking order but she still holds her own.

  • Augustine one of the Swifty chicks, is our allusive explorer. She triest to be brave while free ranging, but one slight noise and she squawks and heads for the coop! She is a beauty with her dark gray to black feathers, kind of reminding us of Selena Gomez!

  • Betty may be a young chick, but she seems to have an old soul. She doesn’t get carried away in any of the chicken antics and just minds her business and eats her bugs. She leads a simple life and seems to bring a peace to the brood.

  • Cornelia is the most colorful of her little flock. All the others hatched were in the gray tones, but she came out with some gray highlights, but we have no doubt her mama was either Dixie or Dottie. She is curious but careful in her everyday world. She likes to roost as high as she can and exercises those wings often!

  • Majorie may be a chicken but she’s a hoot. She will sit beside Swifty and try to cock-a-doodle-doo doo with him. Her comes out sounding a little like a mix of a frog and a chocking human, but we give her all the credit for her confidence and determination to keep on trying!

  • Stella is our most mischievous one. She is always the one avoiding the coop and trying to extend her boundaries. We call her the rebellious teen of the flock. She is a beautiful light gray and her looks make use love her beyond her ornery!

  • Swifty is our teen rooster. He and his little flock are children to the older flock. He is the only rooster out of the six that were born, and he is beautiful. He is has just learned to cock-a-doodle-doo and sometimes he sounds broken. But he is happy and learning to be a bit feisty to protect his brood.

  • Loretta Lynn is one of our shyer chickens. She tends to hang back and observe more, but no worries, she still wants in on the action wants she knows it’s safe!

  • Ralph is our older rooster. He is a beautiful boy that isn’t afraid to strut his stuff while protecting his flock. He is gentle and observant, and super proud of his cock-a-doodle-doo!

  • Reba is in Ralph’s flock. She is one year old and was named after Reba McIntire as her feathers are the same color as the famous singer. She is a little hesitant around new people but loves a good treat and will show up for it every time. She had to have surgery for an impacted crop and she stayed in our chicken hospital here at the ranch for a week. She is an overcomer.

  • Mable is one of our friendliest in Ralph’s flock as she struts around with her black and white feathers. She comes running first when we come around, in full anticipation of snacks and goodies!

  • Scarlett is the “broodiest” of our hens. She steals the other girls eggs and nests on them every day until they are collected. Once we come it, she jumps up and lets us have them and she is off to catch up on snaking!
